MEMBERSHIP

We welcome members from every stage of the steel supply chain to join us in building a better future.
We also welcome our colleagues across the manufacturing and construction sectors on the journey.

WHY JOIN

As an SSC member you will be participating in enabling our industry’s role in New Zealand’s low-emissions future and advancing the circular economy.
SSC membership provides the opportunity to take the journey to SSC Chartered membership help shape the sector agenda and gain first mover advantage in a low-emissions, sustainability focused market.

For example, a focus on waste reduction and steel’s contribution to the circular economy has significant potential to create commercial opportunities.

For small enterprises, which are the life blood of our sector and the New Zealand economy, SSC membership will provide support and access to resources.

It also demonstrates to customers and stakeholders that you are actively addressing key sustainability issues in your production processes and supply chain.

WHO CAN JOIN AND HOW

If you are an individual member one of the seven industry bodies that make up the SSC, you receive a significant discount to become a member of SSC.

SSC will recognise your membership by formally requesting that you sign up to the SSC Charter. By responding in the affirmative in writing, SSC will provide you with a certificate of “recognised membership”, which you can use in tenders and promotional collateral.

If you or your organisation are not a member of any of our member industry bodies, you can still join the SSC by applying to become an Executive or a Chartered Member.

Recognised membership is reviewed annually with no additional cost.

CERTIFIED MEMBERSHIP

The SSC Certification programme recognises the extra work being done by individual members to advance the sustainability of their operations in line with the SSC Charter. It is obtained through an audit process.

Once the re-registration process is complete, SSC Certification is also recognised as a criterion in the New Zealand Green Building Council’s Responsible Products Value (RPV) scheme under credit 20.
